Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
