BF6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, many players are expressing frustration over some of the game's hardest challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.
Players have started resorting to tailored sessions set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, underscoring just how grueling these assignments have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four categories of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.
A number of these locked weapons may soon earn a place on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry across Reddit
On Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This mission is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
Another Reddit user pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is tough enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and maybe a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
The Workaround
Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
But when tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for finishing these in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if several of these tasks are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the locked firearms.
Currently, the community continues to express their views on these strenuous multiplayer missions, hoping for a less arduous gaming experience in subsequent patches.
